can it be?

Today, I drove my cousins to school, while I was waiting for my lil sis and my cousin to come out, I was tuned in to MixFM. They are having this thingy where Ika, Serena C and Pietro are being 'clonned' for people to bring around and the one who brings them around in the most creative way wins. And for people who spot those participants and if they capture a photo of those people, they'll win RM 100. This isn't the main point here.

I was listening, and there was this person who called in and said she saw one in KLCC. And her name was Azimah (!!!) When I heard the DJ said "Hello, Azimah!!", I was like "Eh, I had a friend Azimah during my secondary school, but this can't be her. There must be a few Azimahs in town, and nah, it can't be". But, as the caller spoke, her voice really resembles the Azimah I knew!!! I really lost contact with this person, and sadly, I don't know anything about her whereabouts etc. :(

It's 9 days till I depart for Moscow..

positively-charged

Well, today is a great day. Yes it is. I dunno why, but I'm happy today. Maybe it's because I had a good lunch today at grandma's. It sounds like a normal thing, but it has been some time since we all gathered there and have lunch together. When I say together, it means my family, my aunt's and ALL my cousins except the one in Singapore will be there. It used to be a weekly affair until my uncle and aunt became very busy with their work. So, it's now a monthly thing. Still better than nothing. I love family togetherness. It makes me feel good, and happy. And meeting my cousins, chatting and pigging out at the kiddo's table make meetings like this an event not to be missed.

I think grandma is really happy when it comes to these kinda gathering. And she was already planning what to cook since Tuesday. Haha. And, I, being her marketing partner ever since I was back, did my routine, bringing her to the market to get all the stuff she planned to cook. From meat to seafood to veggies. Really salute her for being able to think of what to cook everytime we have these kinda lunch. At this stall, the seller told my grandma to buy yam. My grandma stood there, asked me if I wanna eat the yam and meat stew (kou yoke)-however u call it in English. I wanted to say no, coz it takes a lot of time to prepare; but it was too late. She was already choosing!

Really love my grandma. She always asks me what I wanna eat, whenever we go marketing together. And I really dunno what I want coz if I were to name or list down the stuff I wanna eat, it'll be a long list. She still remembers what I like to eat like although I didn't say anything and will take the trouble to cook them, be it simple or complicated dishes. I really dunno how to thank her coz she has been a superb grandma, ever since I was a kid. She was the one who looked after me when my parents were working in Penang, and there wasn't any nannies available there. Being the eldest grandchild in the family, I was obviously being showered with a lot of love and attention by my grandparents, aunt and uncles. When I'm back for my summer holidays, I am practically her chaffeur to everywhere she desires to go. I'll be the one she goes marketing with, the one she goes shopping with, the one who helps her cook, the one she brings out for breakfast. Whenever she decides to marketing alone at the market nearby her place, I am worried. Although it is just a short distance away, there are many things that can happen, knowing the crime rates these days. But then, when I'm away, there won't be anyone to go marketing with her and she will have to walk there coz my grandpa who used to go marketing with her still has a long way to go before he can walk properly. Sigh..

This is supposed to be a happy post.. So, I'm gonna tell you what my relatives have been saying.
#1 ) It started with my aunt. I was telling her I can't bring my grandparents for checkup on the 27th July coz I was going for a trip with my friends and during that period, my friends are scheduled to be in Ipoh. And she said, "Boyfriend coming ah??" And that left me speechless and I answered sarcastically, "Yes, what're u going to do?" My dear aunt replied, "Oh, really?! Okok, I wanna go book a table for dinner.." *smacks forehead* And when the date neared, she asked my mom if my friends are coming to Ipoh. And my mom answered, "Yeah, why? What you wanna do?" Knowing my great aunt, she again said, "I told her (as in I), if her boyfriend comes, I'll go book tables and we'll all have dinner together. I'm serious!" We all laughed, and mom replied, "Later she brings a group of guys, then u know!!" Haha. Coz mom knew that a few guys will be in this trip.

#2) My uncle whom I met. The first question he asked wasn't concerning my studies or life there. It was the infamous, "Eh, got boyfriend di ah?" I was like, "HUH??!!!"

#3) Today, my grandma was telling me to get one after our lunch. And she said, then you can bring him back next summer.

These left me thinking if they are that desperate..Or are they afraid that I'll be a spinster?? Haha.. I was also thinking if I will get the person and when I do, will I make a good girlfriend to the person. What do you think?? LOL.
But, all these..ahh.. let cupid do the job eh? :P

oh dear...

After 3 years plus not going to a night market, I finally got my parents to bring us there. And, now, I'm feeling unwell. Realized pasar malams aren't the place for us to be. No wonder we haven't been there in ages. But, oh well, it's still a great time spent there, seeing the crowd lining up to get food.

Dunno why, but I'm having a headache now and my stomach isn't feeling good.

Will update soon, till then, take care!!

of summer holidays

In a month's time, I will be stepping on Russian soil.
This really proves that time flies like some rocket, or perhaps faster than that, maybe like the speed of light? 3 months of summer holidays are ending and soon, the nerdy version of me will be seen in Moscow.

Sigh......................

I'll definitely miss home. Plus the fact that I'll be flying off a day before my mom's birthday coz I couldn't get tickets on the 7th.

Sigh.....................................

But, I would say, this 1st summer holiday of mine is just... indescribable.

Well, I admit that I was moaning and whining but after a fun-filled 2 weeks, I really LOVE summer vacations, especially when you get to spend it with your friends and of course family.

Things were all dark before I left to KL for my so-called 'eating-trip' with my friends. I decided to put everything behind me and have fun, and I did!

24th July - 27th July 2007

Reached KL by bus. (yes, it's the 1st time I'm taking an express bus on my own, *blush*) Was like a lost sheep in Pudu, coz I expected the bus to enter the station and we get down; but instead, the bus stopped by the side of the road and I had to walk all the way to the terminal. Was supposed to meet up with my friends there, but I didn't know where they were. Luckily, they called me and I managed to find them within a short period of time. Went to Petaling Street for the first time after living in Malaysia for 19 years, then to Times Square, then took my first RapidKL bus ride and got a shock of my life! The bus driver was crazy!!

These were what he did:
  • - talked on the phone while driving
  • - didn't close the doors of the bus when we were moving in the city
  • - jammed the brake when the bus is very very near the vehicle in front
  • - cursed the commuters when they pressed the button
  • - crossed the roads when the lights were red
  • - blasted the radio out of a sudden
and worst of all...
  • - shoo-ed all of us out the bus a few stops before our destination! It seemed we're too noisy!
We had to call my friend's mom to pick us up in the end. Dinner was already ready when we reached her house, and we felt bad coz her mom prepared a lot of food and we didn't help out at all. We chit-chatted and only slept at 0300..

Went all the way from Puchong to Putrajaya the next day to visit another friend. Gosh! Her house is gigantic!! It's on a hill, plus it's 3-storey high; so you can see the whole town when you're at the 2nd floor balcony and the breeze is just great! Yeah, her family also has an orchard beside the house, which has durians, rambutans, longans etc.. Had a great time there, real cooling place.

Traveled all the way from Putrajaya to KL and had Japanese food buffet; we're practically spoilt for choice! We wanted to go for a walk after dinner, but it was pouring cats and dogs. So we've got no choice but to head home and chat..again.

Off to Sunway Lagoon on Thursday. Thanks to my dear aunt who's in Sunway Group, we got cheaper entrance tickets:D Had fun getting wet and just chilling out under the sun. My teachers said that I was too fair, so, I decided not to put on any sunblock. Hehe..

Then it's to the town of Bak Kut Teh - Klang before heading back to my favorite lil town of Ipoh...

#####

27th July - 29th July 2007

Ipoh and its food.. No one can run away from this peaceful town without being stuffed with food coz there's nothing much to do here besides eating! Our malls are nothing compared to those in KL and Penang, we only have ONE theme park and the only thing we have are the famous eateries and a free-flow traffic!! And I really love the traffic here..

Everything went smoothly until I wanted to bring my friends to Kellie's Castle from Tambun. Sounds easy eh? I took the highway, as in the North-South Expressway and smartly took the Penang way instead of the KL. Managed to realize before I crossed the toll plaza. Was happy and was having fun overtaking and looking at the speedometer, making sure it doesn't exceed 110kmph. Dad told me to exit at Simpang Pulai and look our for Batu Gajah. I did. But I ended up where? In Gopeng instead!! What a blow!! Ended up in old town for white coffee and toasts instead of the historical castle..sigh.. It was an experience gaining trust from my parents to drive on the NSE tho.

29th July - 1st August 2007

Final stop for our trip - Penang, my birthplace:D
Since we named our outing 'eating-trip', we couldn't run away from eating. We were eating from sunrise till past sunset! And we went from the island to the mainland, and back to the island. Visited some famous tourist spots and the beach!! Also, we're at Penang Hill and we saw this tee; found it rather interesting and ended up buying it. All the 8 of us, with the tee for dinner. It looked like members of some illegal troop whenever we walked around..LOL. Went on Banana Boat with the same tee as well. Too much happened in Penang and if i continue blabbering, u'll definitely fall asleep in front of your PC. So, to cut short, this is the list of food tasted there.
  1. rojak
  2. white curry mee
  3. laksa
  4. wan tan mee without the usual black sauce
  5. cendol
  6. ais kacang
  7. seafood in tambun
  8. korean bbq and steamboat
  9. char kuey teow
  10. prawn mee

4th August - 5th August 2007

Was in the city of entertainment aka Genting Highlands with my family, after resting at home for 2 days.. Mom's school had a teachers' retreat thingy and my family went, alongside with Cassie's family. Told Jojokek and Li to joined us, and they did! This trip seriously proved the 2 (one is barely 19, and the other is a little past 20) O-L-D!!!!! They were too afraid to go for extreme rides, so we ended up going for rides like the vintage car, boating.. go ask them what happened during pirate train.. They'll tell you more and further details:P Finally got to watch Transformers and really enjoyed it. Whenever it's time for our meals, we'll end up asking each other till someone gets fed-up of the question "where to eat? what to eat la??? aiyo...." All in all, it was a fun trip with my 2 ever-crazy buddies!! will miss you a lot..
