let it be white

Our planet is getting ill.
Weathers all over the world have been abnormal.
In some places, summer came early; some, there's no sign of spring.

It has been snowing heavily here. No one knows when the snow will stop to give way to the blooming flowers.

When the snow melted just the other day, and the roads were cleared from the ice and snow, everyone was happy, hoping spring will arrive soon. Then, out of a sudden, it started snowing heavily... again.

WHITE christmas, WHITE valentine's day, WHITE women's day.

I had it all.

Some friends tend to have this emo period whenever they do not see the sunshine. They said there's no joy in seeing a gloomy day, it's not a day when you don't see the sun.

When we've got the sun; we'll complain that it's too hot.

When we've got snow; we'll complain that it's too cold.

***

Well, here are some photos, showing the shower of snow.

look at the cable, of this and the next. It happened within 30minutes or so.

Lastly, I wanna wish all ladies out there a
HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY!!!!
Without women, there won't be men, so let your hair down and have a great day.
Well, perhaps make a guy do something special for you, just for a day!
With lotsa love...

my journey

Sometimes, life doesn't go the way you actually want them to.
It's not like you're not doing your best to get it going the right path.
And there have to be something, someone that just loves getting into your way, blocking.
The worst part is that they always seem to be enjoying what they did.
This is the time when I fully understand what it means by the phrase 'musuh dalam selimut'.

But with the whole lot of bacteria and diseases, autopsies, and the full chain of molecules to accompany me, I have to struggle my way through this nonsense.
Guess I have to just continue walking in this journey till the finishing line.
And the most vital weapon that I possess with me is the love from family and friends.
That's what bringing me further.

everything, moving on

Well, well, well..

It's been a week since I left home after a mere 2 weeks break.

During that 2 weeks, every dinner was a family reunion. Quoting my sisters and cousins, this CNY brought the most reunion dinners ever!

And then, it's back to business once again here in Moscow.

It was snowing heavily yesterday and this morning, and the white shower just stopped a few hours ago.
Despite the heavy snowfall, classes still resume as usual. Everything here went on as usual.

Buses are moving.
Metros are zooming.
People are walking.
Classes are going.
Tests are killing.

There is no break unless the temperature hits below -35C.

Guess that's all for a quickie.
Gotta hit the books.

3rd Salon du Chocolat 2008

The International Chocolate Salon cum Food Show was here in Moscow, from the 28th to 30th November. It was like a exhibition of different kinds of food and of course, a haven for chocolate lovers:)
Many exhibitors came from different countries to exhibit their products, not only food, but also the kitchen appliances.
My friends and I went and we tasted many different species of chocolate coming from different parts of the world. It was just...superb!
It was really an experience of a lifetime with so much food in a day, within 8 hours.

(the overview of the whole exhibition)

(a sample of homemade jam from Tefal counter)

(chocolate fondue with marshmellows)

(chocolates with roses in them)

(a participant of the Chocolate Sculpturing Contest)

(piece of masterpiece done with chocolate)

(kids painting-with-chocolate contest)

Guess I've made some deep cravings for chocolate and I better stop here, before someone starts whacking me when I'm back!
Signing off, with lots of chocolatey hugs! :)

And oh ya, Christmas is approaching, and there won't be any celebrations this year due to an important exam exactly on 25th December. But anyhow,
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
p/s: with tonnes of snowflakes and snowman, enjoy and have a blessed celebration!

html illiterate

I changed my layout and all, and I wanted to fix the cbox where you all can write, but I failed.
I tried many times, but the cbox doesn't go to the place that I want it to be.
So, as I need to get back to my books, I decided to just let it be.
Whoever that is kind enough to teach me where to paste the code, I would sincerely appreciate it.
Any comments, please leave them in the comments link.

I'll try to update as frequent as I can.

guinea-pig dayout

I've been sneezing a couple of times these few weeks, until I realized that many have been 'thinking' of me. And kept waiting for me to update eh? Thousand apologies, sorry.

But anyhow, here are some pictures from this new semester.

A friend of mine just got a professional digital camera, and wanted to practise his photography skills. So, the 4 of us went to this park (Tsarytsino Park) we've never been before to be the 'guinea-pig'-models of the day, for the skill-experimenting dayout.

Lo and behold, the Canon EOS 1000D
stolen from my friend.. hehe

2 photos below taken from

These are taken with my teenie-weenie digital camera

Hope you all enjoyed the photos.
And, ya, my friend invites you all to visit the link above, and give comments on the photos featured there as it will help improve his photography skills. (he's a freshie :P)
Signing off, take care!!

'med' life in MMA

So, here I am.

The first post on what really took place in Moscow, my 2nd home for the past 9 months I was there to complete my 1st year, officially in med school.

Well, as the name states, life there is nothing but madness. From the early mornings to another early morning, my days are mostly spent on my study table, with my dear friends-the thick books; except weekends where my friends and I will take some to let our hair off for a day or so.

School days

[ 1st Semester : Monday - Friday ]

[ 2nd Semester : Monday - Saturday ]

We were actually laughing and teasing the people who had Saturday classes when we first started off because I've got 2 roomies who had to wake up early in the morning for their classes while the 3 of us were still in our dreams! And, it ended up, we've got a 6-day timetable in the next semester! (guess we shouldn't teased them eh?) BUT, in the 2nd semester, THEY too had Saturday classes!! :D

After doing some math, we found out that we were way better than them! We had approximately 16 Saturdays off!

The best part was during the Saturdays when I've got Histology classes, my teacher is a real mom! She lets us off early whenever we finished all the tasks of the day, which includes looking at slides, drawing the cells, and the computerized MCQ. That particular teacher actually told us to go have fun after class, reminding us off and on that we should never walk alone wherever we go, and she told the guys in my class to protect the girls wherever we go. HAHA.

Talking about the computerized MCQ, it's scary. The concept is something like the Undang test we had back then, but it's way worse. There's no such thing called 'undo' and you can change your selected answer. So, it's either choose wisely or die! It's 12 questions per week, (it's a weekly thingy, no escape) and you can only have ONE mistake to get the full mark of 5.

The 'favorite' day of all 1st years is none other than THURSDAY. Just go around asking and you will hear a lot of different types of sadness and worries. Thursday is the day where we will play with organs in the Anatomy department. Sounds fun, right? But it's not at all fun when it's added with surprise tests by your teachers. The controls are once in a fortnight, and the amount of terms I gotta get into my teenie weenie brain is like Mt. Everest. And once in a blue moon, my nice teacher will start asking you some situational tasks where, again, your brain needs to be squished and juiced. During every control, there's a lot of drama! Some will be so scared till they mixed up everything. Usually the hostel will be filled with noise and chatterings and the 'mama' had to shoo us to bed, but on Wednesday nights, she won't need to do this, as everyone will be in their rooms, hugging their atlas and textbooks; finding out all ways to get every single term and their locations into their heads. The kitchen will be empty on Wednesday evenings. And on Thursday mornings all students will be seen walking like zombies. In the bus, in the metro, we will all be reading! That's the story of our favorite day of the week.

Next, there are a few teachers who has the ability to tease a person and act as though it was just a normal thing.
For instance, my Latin sir. He's the clown of the class. He's also a language genius, he knows a lot of languages, except mandarin. hehe. It was the second class of the semester and he expected all of us to memorize the Latin alphabets, and when we got to class, he started taking out the usual namelist and called the 1st person to tell him all the alphabets.

"A, B, C...urm.. D....................urm"

"Why are u thinking? Are u going to be a doctor or a philosopher? Stop thinking and just give me the flow of alphabets..No philosopher in my class ok"

The next victim was me. And, thank God, it went fine. I wasn't a philosopher. :P

Then, it was this fine day in winter, when it was very cold, and the window was slightly opened. He saw us being uncomfy and asked the guy who sat near the window to close it. And this guy is the 'best student' of the whole class as he only attended 2/7 classes that time.

Sir saw the guy having a hard time closing the window, and he said,

"Use brain, don't use strength..."

And we all laughed, but the sir remained cool as a cucumber. He was indeed a very nice and kind sir.

One lecturer, when a few students were late for his lecture.

"The lecture began 20minutes ago. Which part of the world are you from? China? London? US? Which clock are u following?

When another few came in..

"I told you all to come for lecture at 12 noon, not 12 midnight.."

"What mode of transport did you take to reach this lecture hall? The metro? WOW, I didn't know Moscow metro was that slow..."

Oh ya, and there's another Chemistry sir, who is really good and he smiles everytime he sees you. And once before our small weekly test,

"Well, are there any other questions before I distribute the variants?"

My classmate answered, "Urm, sir, what's the answer to the 1st question?"

Being sporting, the teacher, standing in front with his smile, looked at the question and then, "It's A"

We were all shocked, thinking he just gave us an answer to make us happy, but after my friend, who got the variant that the teacher saw, the answer was indeed an A.

***

No worries, I'm not a pure nerd there. I do hang out with friends after a massive exam week, either we'll go grocery shopping, chat at a cafe, or just crash into thguys' room opposite for a game of Counter Strike that will last till 12am! (although we don't really know how to play, we'll just play, taking the opponents as the lecturers we dislike most. haha)

OR, we'll get really crazy and cook up a really good meal, or go get a barbecue set just for the fun of barbecuing in the park, cookie party, picnic and all the way to making chocolate fondue.

p/s: I don't know what happened that this wasn't up until I checked it. haha. enjoy!

can it be?

Today, I drove my cousins to school, while I was waiting for my lil sis and my cousin to come out, I was tuned in to MixFM. They are having this thingy where Ika, Serena C and Pietro are being 'clonned' for people to bring around and the one who brings them around in the most creative way wins. And for people who spot those participants and if they capture a photo of those people, they'll win RM 100. This isn't the main point here.

I was listening, and there was this person who called in and said she saw one in KLCC. And her name was Azimah (!!!) When I heard the DJ said "Hello, Azimah!!", I was like "Eh, I had a friend Azimah during my secondary school, but this can't be her. There must be a few Azimahs in town, and nah, it can't be". But, as the caller spoke, her voice really resembles the Azimah I knew!!! I really lost contact with this person, and sadly, I don't know anything about her whereabouts etc. :(

It's 9 days till I depart for Moscow..

positively-charged

Well, today is a great day. Yes it is. I dunno why, but I'm happy today. Maybe it's because I had a good lunch today at grandma's. It sounds like a normal thing, but it has been some time since we all gathered there and have lunch together. When I say together, it means my family, my aunt's and ALL my cousins except the one in Singapore will be there. It used to be a weekly affair until my uncle and aunt became very busy with their work. So, it's now a monthly thing. Still better than nothing. I love family togetherness. It makes me feel good, and happy. And meeting my cousins, chatting and pigging out at the kiddo's table make meetings like this an event not to be missed.

I think grandma is really happy when it comes to these kinda gathering. And she was already planning what to cook since Tuesday. Haha. And, I, being her marketing partner ever since I was back, did my routine, bringing her to the market to get all the stuff she planned to cook. From meat to seafood to veggies. Really salute her for being able to think of what to cook everytime we have these kinda lunch. At this stall, the seller told my grandma to buy yam. My grandma stood there, asked me if I wanna eat the yam and meat stew (kou yoke)-however u call it in English. I wanted to say no, coz it takes a lot of time to prepare; but it was too late. She was already choosing!

Really love my grandma. She always asks me what I wanna eat, whenever we go marketing together. And I really dunno what I want coz if I were to name or list down the stuff I wanna eat, it'll be a long list. She still remembers what I like to eat like although I didn't say anything and will take the trouble to cook them, be it simple or complicated dishes. I really dunno how to thank her coz she has been a superb grandma, ever since I was a kid. She was the one who looked after me when my parents were working in Penang, and there wasn't any nannies available there. Being the eldest grandchild in the family, I was obviously being showered with a lot of love and attention by my grandparents, aunt and uncles. When I'm back for my summer holidays, I am practically her chaffeur to everywhere she desires to go. I'll be the one she goes marketing with, the one she goes shopping with, the one who helps her cook, the one she brings out for breakfast. Whenever she decides to marketing alone at the market nearby her place, I am worried. Although it is just a short distance away, there are many things that can happen, knowing the crime rates these days. But then, when I'm away, there won't be anyone to go marketing with her and she will have to walk there coz my grandpa who used to go marketing with her still has a long way to go before he can walk properly. Sigh..

This is supposed to be a happy post.. So, I'm gonna tell you what my relatives have been saying.
#1 ) It started with my aunt. I was telling her I can't bring my grandparents for checkup on the 27th July coz I was going for a trip with my friends and during that period, my friends are scheduled to be in Ipoh. And she said, "Boyfriend coming ah??" And that left me speechless and I answered sarcastically, "Yes, what're u going to do?" My dear aunt replied, "Oh, really?! Okok, I wanna go book a table for dinner.." *smacks forehead* And when the date neared, she asked my mom if my friends are coming to Ipoh. And my mom answered, "Yeah, why? What you wanna do?" Knowing my great aunt, she again said, "I told her (as in I), if her boyfriend comes, I'll go book tables and we'll all have dinner together. I'm serious!" We all laughed, and mom replied, "Later she brings a group of guys, then u know!!" Haha. Coz mom knew that a few guys will be in this trip.

#2) My uncle whom I met. The first question he asked wasn't concerning my studies or life there. It was the infamous, "Eh, got boyfriend di ah?" I was like, "HUH??!!!"

#3) Today, my grandma was telling me to get one after our lunch. And she said, then you can bring him back next summer.

These left me thinking if they are that desperate..Or are they afraid that I'll be a spinster?? Haha.. I was also thinking if I will get the person and when I do, will I make a good girlfriend to the person. What do you think?? LOL.
But, all these..ahh.. let cupid do the job eh? :P

another darling....

Since I'm back, I feel like some BIG spender..seriously.

I've been pampered by my mom coz whenever we go out shopping, it's mostly my stuff!! :S

But anyway, everyone, meet my latest darling..

Was surprised when my parents agreed to get that for me..
HEHE..

But this added to my guilt. Sigh..

I love my mummy and daddy.. and I will miss them dearly... *sobs*
